Many have reaffirmed that if leaders of other nations choose to rob the national treasuries of their country like the leaders of Nigeria do, they would have stopped existing long ago. Ironically, even in the midst of unrivaled wanton recklessness and disregard, Nigerians are still pushing very hard like a woman in Labor. Unlike Guinea-Bissau and Somalia where political instability has utterly mar the future, ours has continue to defy the norm and even so, it bears a glimmer of hope for the future to come.

Nigerians are a unique breed. About us, it is said that on every strata and walks of Life, we have done extremely well. This is not to raise our ego rather it is to say that whatever a Nigerian sets his heart to achieve, there’s no stopping him. A nation built on the backs of heroes whose youthfulness was harnessed on the wide plantations of European lords. Our time is suppose to herald a new dawning, an end to suffering and a launching into development. Unfortunately, the effort of our heroes past is sinking to vain.

Personally, considering the operandi of the Nigerian political framework, one may be prompted to consider one party saner than the other. APC or PDP, I have since learned not to allude failure to a party. After all, these parties exist for the purpose of self before anything else. Just like a Senator can decamp from one party to the other yet remain clueless.  See a man in a crystal clear Mercedes in the streets waiving at the people and be rest assured that he is seeking for power. Ones in, he hides himself behind tinted glasses and also surrounds himself with heavily built youths whose sole purpose isto sing his praises regardless…sadly, we see them on Televisions harassing those with no power in plazas and malls.

Isn’t it miraculous that these many ills thrives on? Fela Kuti, the legendary Musical maestro in one of his interviews referred to Nigerians as  “docile people”.A subtle way of saying that we love to suffer and smile expecting the angels to fight for our freedom. Twitter, a fine platform for change was recently banned due to personal reasons exclusive to the president. Even though I consider twitter an unsolicited global police, I do not think they’ve gone beyond bounds.

A widespread of agitations and resentment births. To those drumming the sounds of war, remember this; We can tell the start of a war but no one can decide how it will end. Even as we continue to wait in labor for the beautiful ones to be born, the question on the lips of everyone is this; “How long can Nigeria hold her forth in her quest to remain as one?
