Impeached deputy governor of Kogi state, Elder Simon Achuba may have been placed under house arrest by security operatives who stormed his residence in Lokoja on Friday preventing him from leaving and stopping anyone from going in.

A visit to the official residence of the Deputy Governor confirmed the incident.

Achuba cried out, during a phone-in interview on African Independent Television on Friday, that security men from government house have barricaded his house.

“As I speak to you, I am under house arrest. My security aides have been withdrawn.

“Currently, I am in my house, security operatives from government house have taken over my residence. Nobody can come in and nobody can go out,” he said.

Speaking with our reporter on the incident, Senior Special Assistant to Achuba, Honorious Arome described the action of security men as illegal.

“His life and that of his immediate family are in danger. The security men barricading the official residence were sponsored by the Governor of Kogi state to take the lives of the Deputy Governor and his family. We call on the Inspector General of Police and the leadership of other security agencies to follow due process and order these men to vacate the premises without further delay.

“I ask if the constitution of Nigeria is still in operation here? I wonder if members of Kogi State House of Assembly know the implication of what they did today?,” he asked.

Achuba vowed to challenge his impeachment by the state lawmakers.
