The member representing Bassa Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Sunday Shigaba, has called on the state government to immortalise Late Lt Col Muhammadu Abu Ali, a native of Bassa Local Government Area who was killed during a Boko Haram attack on November 4th, 2016.
The lawmaker who made the appeal on Tuesday, eulogised Abu Ali as a hero who played a gallant role in the recovery of Moguno, Baga, New Marte, Bama, Gwoza and several other towns from the Boko Haram.
He said: “The death of this gallant soldier from Kogi State should therefore not be in vain. He paid the Supreme sacrifice for our country. He left a wife and children behind and the family should not be allowed to suffer.”
Shigaba thereby appealed to the State government to name a public building or facility after Abu Ali, and to offer his children scholarships from primary to tertiary institutions of their choice.
