One of the frontline Aspirants under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming 2023 House of Representatives election for Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency in Kogi State, Engr. Suleiman Aminu Adaira has withdrawn from the race in the interest of his party.
This was contained in a press release by the aspirant and made available to journalists in Lokoja.
According to the press release, Adaira said the Interest of the party is above his personal interest.
Full text of the press release:
“Dear constituents, supporters, family and friends. It is out of great respect for your tenacity and steadfastness to the cause of our campaign tagged “Adaira4Rep2023” that I deem it fit to make this press release and deliver to you of my intention to step down from the race of Member, House of Representatives, Adavi/Okehi Constituency.
It is one thing to attempt to build a house, and it is another to make sure the house does not cause a division in the home where you were raised. Kogi APC family is a home. We won’t fail to acknowledge the strides, strives and sweat it took all our founding fathers, especially our Leader, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, to attain the dominance we possess today in the state. This is one feat I am not ready to bargain under the circumstances of disparity of interests within the party.
For the fundamental benefit of the party, I formally declare a cease to “Adaira4Rep2023” campaign and to throw my full weight of support to all the nominated candidates of my party across the various elective positions not just in Kogi Central but across the entire state.
This is a decision taken in good faith and the noblest thing to do, as it is evident that Kogi APC remains bound in unison for a common goal.
I sincerely wish to register my unreserved appreciation to everyone who has backed me up with uncompromising supports since the time words got around on my intention to run for Member, House of Representatives, Adavi/Okehi Constituency in Kogi State. I will be eternally grateful to you all for your love and encouragement as this is not where the road ends for me and you all. There will definitely be such course in another time to pursue in the future. Times and time again you all picked me up, and I sincerely hope one day, I picked you up too.
To my loyal party men and women, and all my supporters within the state, I would like to enjoin you all to support the party’s hierarchy decision as regards our constituency nomination of candidate for the 2023 race which I, by this press release, relinquish.
This is my humble call to you all and the only avenue to prove to me, once again, that you trust in my judgment just as you did when I declared for the race. At the end of the day, a win for the APC Party is a win for us all and I would want my camp to be at the celebration ground when the grand standing feat happens.
In the meantime, I have directed our Campaign DG, Honourable Audu Samuel Peter, to forthwith harmonize all our campaign structures and groups to a single frontal group tagged “Adaira Support Group for APC”.
I therefore enjoin all our Polling Units, Wards and the Local Governments Coordinators to comply immediately. This frontal Support Group is poised to deliver our Party’s Mandate across the state and our Leader’s Presidential Aspiration at both Primaries and the General Elections.
