A Joint Patrol Team in Kogi State has discovered an illegal refinery located at Budo village on the bank of River Niger.
The Kogi State NNS Lugard Commander, Commodore Timothy Dakwat told journalists that no arrest was made, as the suspects took to their heels when they noticed the patrol team.
“On hearing the noise of the engine and because it was night, they took off into the forest and the place is swampy. In any case they know the terrain more than we do, but they couldn’t leave with these fixed structures.”
The team recovered over 83 drums filled with substance suspected to be refined oil.
“We had 200 litre drums about 83 and some other quantities of jerry cans and so on of illegally refined products, suspiciously diesel.”
