A frontline gubernatorial aspirant of All progressive Congress (APC) in the forthcoming governorship election in Kogi State, Admiral Usman Jibrin (rtd) has pledged to partner with federal government, private sector and international communities to foster rapid development in the state.
The APC chieftain disclosed this at his country home at Anyigba in Dekina local government areas of the state while addressing various groups, associations, unions, individuals from 9 local governments in the East Senatorial District that stormed his residence to celebrate Sallah break with him.
He noted that the state economy is not heart warming presently and cannot guarantee quality living standard for the people, stressing that if given the ticket of his party and he thereafter secure the mandate to rule the state, he will initiate a move for massive infrastructural development, to boost employment and income of the members of the public.
“To achieve this quickly, I will initiate partnership with Federal government, other state governments, private sector, philanthropists and international communities to foster rapid development in the state.
“My primary policy thrust therefore is to favour massive infrastructural development, peace and positive co-existence among one another; improved health sector, agriculture, education and security would be guaranteed throughout the state. To be candid, focus on the state economy, political, and socio cultural development would be paramount in my administration, if I achieved my ambition”, he said.
Admiral Jibrin promised to run an all inclusive government that even the people at the grassroots will feel the impact as they would be carried along in all decisions concerning their well-being.
While he expressed his profound gratitude to almighty God for sparing their life, he appreciated everyone that took their time to celebrate the break with him, saying it is an attestation of hope for the restoration of good governance in the state soon.
According to Comrade Daniel Isah, the Director General of Admiral Jibrin (rtd) campaign organisation, the people on courtesy visit expressed their appreciation to the APC chieftain for his courage and acceptance of the call to service, especially at this challenging period which they described as divine in view of the current situation in the state.
He stressed further that the groups were endeared by the giant strides of Admiral Jibrin(rtd) over the years which includes, establishment of infrastructure that is providing employment to Kogi indigenes, the establishment of key Federal institutions in the state and contributions towards the educational development of Kogi, among others.
It was gathered that the members of the solidarity groups from the nine local governments in Kogi East District likened Admiral Jibrin to the Late Prince Abubakar Audu, whom they believed had the overall development of the state at heart.
They noted that though Prince Abubakar Audu is no more, but that he didn’t go without leaving a replacement in the person of Admiral Usman Jibrin because of his knacks for development. They called on the APC gubernatorial aspirant not to ward off his resolve to contest for the governorship position of the state, saying, “they are behind him”
Some members of the solidarity groups which includes staunch members of APC that spoke to journalists at Anyigba during the break visit said their quest for Admiral Jibrin to jostle for the ticket of the APC for the November 16 governorship election is because of his good track records and ground swell support that cuts across all parties.
