Ijumu 2019: An Abridged Profile of Comrade Ojo Bidemi Jerry

April 20 2017, will ever remain indelible in the memory of Comrade Ojo Bidemi Jerry (OBJ). It was the month he received an award for exceptional performance and hardworking in Flour Mills of Nigeria PLC.
Williams James mused that “the best use of life is to spend it on something that outlives life”
The above illustration is apt in describing the life of this erudite sales professional cum community mobilizer who was born a little over three decades ago to the family of Late Mr. Joshua Jide Ojo(Oluganmo) and Mrs. Janet Jide Ojo of Egbeda-Egga, Ijumu Local Government Area, Kogi State.
He started his early education in both rural and urban settings as he attended the famous St. John African Nursery and Primary School, Oke-Oyi, Ilorin East Local Government Area, Kwara State between 1987-1993 and proceeded to Community Secondary School, Egbeda-Egga in 1993. He came out of the school with excellent grades that secured him admission offer into Kogi State University, Anyigba to study Political Science.
It is remarkable to note that Ojo Bidemi’s diligence in his career was also seen in his academics when he graduated with Second Class Upper Division in his department. It is worthy to note that prior to his admission into the University, he had already gotten a Certificate Diploma in Computer Operations in Lagos.
OBJ has great passion for education and this is further underscored as he is presently pursuing a Masters degree in International Relations in Kogi State University.
As an unrepentant lover of the youth; the students of Government Secondary School, Serti-Baruwa in Gashaka Local Government Area, Taraba State, where he did his mandatory National Youth Service (2009)will not forget his name in a hurry.
OBJ is a political juggernaut per excellence and he is firmly rooted in modern and progressive politics. He is a brilliant bridge builder with an amiable personality and a great symbol to the upcoming generation of the youth. He is ideologically linked, educationally trained, economically empowered as well as socially adjusted to the youth and older generations.
It is no gainsaying the fact of his honesty indiscriminatory disposition to all regardless of tribe or belief. This is not unconnected with his growing up in multi-ethnic and religious environments which has helped in broadening his worldview and perception.
Human Capital Development
OBJ has not only been an icon to youth but also put bright smiles on the faces of youth and especially job seekers.To further showcase his economic empowerment tendencies; Flour Mills of Nigeria PLC, Lokoja through him has engaged no fewer than Twenty young people mostly of Okun extraction. What a good legacy!.
He is genuinely committed to the plight of downtrodden. His extension of kind gestures both in cash and kind to Ijumu students mostly in Kogi State Polytechnic are innumerable.
Community
Comrade Ojo Bidemi Jerry’s exemplary and dedicated leadership qualities always stand him out as well as his love for his Community; Egbeda-Egga. Little wonders unanimously elected him to serve in various capacities as:
*National Vice President; Egbeda-Egga Students Union (2004-2006)
*National President;Egbeda-Egga Students Union (2006-2008) (Pioneering the take off Egbeda-Egga Students Union Library Project)
*National Secretary; Egbeda-Egga Development Union (Till date).
Endowment
He has great passion for people and always willing and ready to help people at all times.He is a humanitarian to the core as he will not wait a second to offer any kind of assistance to anyone deserving it. He is highly exemplary in this regard.

OBJ has had a very long working stint in Global Food and Beverage industries;
* Delivery Representative; Cadbury Nigeria PLC, Lagos (2010-2011)
* V.S.M; Guinness Nigeria PLC, Akure (2011-2012).
*D.S.R; Inbisco Nigeria Limited, Lagos. (2012-2013).
*Sales Manager; Flour Mills of Nigeria PLC. (2013-Till date).

In all of these, the employment opportunities extended to the youth mostly of Okun origin have gone a long way to reduce drastically the escalation of poverty among them. Certainly, the youths will continue to benefit tremendously from immense humanitarian gestures, goodwill of this rising star of Okunland if given more opportunity to serve at higher capacity come 2019.
That OBJ’s late father had at least a friend in every Okun community in his lifetime, a dependable pedigree which further explains his political acceptability. And therefore not come as surprise an unassailable asset.
This dedicated young man is married to one of the beautiful daughters of Ondo Kingdom, Olayinka and blessed with a wonderful son, Don.
I therefore present to you; our pride, our gift from God; a lovely gold to the good people of Ijumu Kingdom come 2019.
