One of the six Peoples Democratic Party, PDP aspirants contesting to represent Ijumu Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly in 2015 general election, Mr. Emmanuel Obadunmi has said that his ambition to contest for the seat is divine and believed that will sail him through at the primaries as well as the main poll.
Obadunmi who stated this while picking the House of Assembly form to indicate his interest at the PDP Secretariat, Lokoja noted that his intention was to assist in building on the structure of making live better for the good people of his constituency.
He added that his major focus at the plenary would be on youth empowerment, education and security which he believed are paramount to an average citizen especially to the people of his area.
“I give glory to God Almighty, that I was able to achieve one of the major steps of actualizing the ambition to represent the good people of Ijumu,” begins Obadunmi.
“Today makes it exactly one year when God gave me the inspiration to represent my people (October 22, 2013), and I never know its a year old today until this very moment, so its a divine arrangement, not by my power or arrangement, and I believe God’s divinity and power will see us through to the end.
“I’m a grassroot politician, I’ve been around for a while now, my people knows me well and I know them, we relate on daily basis so I know what is important and good for the people of my constituency.
One of my major focus is to see how best to improve the level of education in my area and state in general, we need to look at how our schools are taking care of, its not a good thing having primary schools going on strike, we will also look into how to improve on schools’ condition, the environment and all what will make education be attractive to an average Kogites.
“We will also see how to improve the security situation of the state, how we will be able to sustain the peaceful living of our people and of course youth will also be empowered in a great deal, we would take their minds away from social vices, we will pass a bill that will see into how the youth can make good use of their God giving talents to better their living and the society at large,” he said.
Representation of Ijumu constituency at the 2015 House Assembly poll was zoned to Ekinrin-Ade ward, and Obadunmi will have to negotiate through primaries with five other aspirants before the major election, but he believed that he has the mandate of his people and God will use them to win the ticket.
On the chances of PDP winning all the available seats in the forth coming general election, Obadunmi expressed confidence on the party’s ability to sweep all the available slots at the poll.
“PDP is my party, it has being my party since 2005, I believe so much in the plans and activities of PDP, there are many good things that will still come out of PDP, you will watch in 2015 and see that PDP is the only and the best party in Nigeria and Africa, on our part, we will continue to make PDP proud with our positive representation.”
