Igalamela Community Development Association (ICDA), in conjunction with Igalamela Traditional Council, has set up a peace and reconciliatory committee for the purpose of bringing lasting peace to the area and to curb the rising trend of violence in Ajaka town and its environs.
President of ICDA, Mallam Abdullahi Attah disclosed this during a peace summit organised by the association at Ajaka to resolve the town’s crisis.
Mallam Attah expressed disappointment over the ugly development adding, “we cannot sit and watch the trend take a dimension that will spell doom for the future of our people.”
Whatever the level of provocation, the President stressed that Igalas have never been associated with violence and mindless shedding of human blood and destruction of property, adding that such acts could endanger development; as intending investors will be scared.
He pointed out that youths in any community are the strength and the arms which the people rely on to carry out reforms that raise their standard of living and bring honour to their community through ultimate intellectual achievements, but wondered why Ajaka’s story is different.
Among those appointed to serve on the committee are: Hon. Samson Achimugu (Chairman), Chief Ibrahim Adejo, Chief Stephen Onuche , Chief Drisu Omede, Rev. Sis. Ogacheko and Alhaji Isah Ameh.
Others are Mr. Armstrong Ataguba, representative of the police, state security service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence, while Mall. Aye Abu was appointed the Secretary of the Committee.
The Committee is empowered to prosecute any youth that fails to comply with it and to identify youths and their parents that are involved in violent acts in the area.
