Igala Unity: ICDA Inaugurates Electoral Committee

The Igala Cultural Development Association (ICDA), on Friday, Inaugurated a 5-man electoral committee to conduct the body’s forthcoming elections billed for August 1st to 31st, 2021.

This was stated after the organisation’s electoral committee swearing in ceremony which held at Bar Bench office, Wuye Abuja.

The outgoing president of the ICDA, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq stated that he is aware of the wrong perception the Igala people have about the ICDA and its leadership hence the needs for selection of team and men of unquestionable character that will ensure fair as transparent election that will usher in a new body.

He insisted that he has no intention of impose any body and his administration would never impose any candidate to succeed him.

“I have no desire to nominate my successor contrary to widespread reports. My administration cannot undermine the unity of Igala land no matter the pressure by anybody. We have set the template for a peaceful transition which has never been done in ICDA history, and whatever anybody has done to suggest that we are working towards a consensus candidate is not true,” he said.

The electoral committee members are:
Bar. Samson Ebute SAN
Bar. Festus Oguche
Bar Abaji A Mohammed
Dr. Mrs Victoria Ayishetu Enape
Usman Okai Austin CNA

In his address, the ICDA Board of Trustee Chairman and the former minister, Professor Stephen Ocheni called for unity in Igala land,

He expressed confidence in the electoral committee panel which cuts across various interest group and called on illustrious sons and daughters of Igala to take advantage of the coming ICDA election to recruit men and women of impeccable chargers that lead the apex Igala cultural group to an enviable height.

In attendance is prominent personalities in attendance including Kogi former Attorney General Bar Joe Abraham SAN and other ICDA executives.
