The 14th Igala Education Summit, has resolved among other things, the urgent need to raise a standing committee to partner with local and state governments to build a solid and lasting primary education system in Kogi State.

This was part of the resolutions contained in the communiqué signed by the chairman, Chief (Arc) Gabriel Aduku (OON), Amana Ogohi I of Ata Igala and the chairman of communiqué drafting committee, Dr. S.O Ejima.

In view of the challenges being faced in the management of Primary Education, the summit is of the view that a committee raised by the foundation should be able to partner with local and state government to build primary education system that could stand the test of time.

While the membership of the committee is yet to be constituted, the summit also noted that with the demise of Professor Francis Idachaba, the initiator and convener of Igala Education Summit, it has become imperative to urge all Igala sons and daughters to show stronger commitment to the transformation of education in Igala land by investing in education in areas which include advocacy, mobilization, scholarship and research.

The communiqué also pointed out that there is need for an Igala Education Fund Beneficiary Tracking Committee.

The Committee, in the estimation of the summit, is intended to take stock and monitor the progress of all awardees of Igala Education Foundation from 2004 to date necessary guidance and counseling.

Coupled with these, the summit urged Igala sons and daughters to be conscious of reinvestment of wealth in Education in Igalaland.

As part of the effort to achieve this, it behoves on Igala sons and daughters to take up the challenge as social responsibility to the Kingdom and “buy into the Igala Education Trust Fund to build up the financial base of the foundation”.

Appeal has equally gone to the Kogi State Government to fill-in-the gab in her awards of prizes, scholarship and employment to the awardees of Igala Education Foundation.
