Iffe/Egbedda Egga is located in Ijumu local government area of Kogi State. There is a particular road in between the two communities that has become a death trap for both the motorists and the pedestrians.

Over the past few months, this particular road has caused more harm than ever before for user as vehicles can no longer pass through the road because of its deteriorated condition.

The people of Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu and the users of this road has been crying for the reconstruction of this particular road so that their daily activities can smoothly continue but all what we are hearing is “the necessary authority has been informed”.

This road has not only put a sudden stop to the overflowing social and economic resources of Kogi state but it has put a stop to the vehicles who ply through the road from Ekiti State to Kogi.

This is the only road linking Kogi and Ekiti state.

In recent time, before the raining season, we had witnessed unquantified accidents on this road as a result of its dismal surface but as at the time I am writing this, the road is currently impassable for either vehicles or by the trekkers.

The road that passed through Kabba to Iffe/Egbedda down to Omuo-Ekiti state is a federal road and this is the reason why I am using this moment to appeal to our representatives at the Senate  and House of Representatives to quickly get the road fixed.

If truly Senator Dino Melaye is a distinguished and an outstandingly revamped senator as addressed by Nigerians, he should use his office as the senator representing Kogi West to influence the total reconstruction of the road.

We also appeal to Hon Paul Teejay Yusuf, who is the member representing Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency at the green chambers to expedite action on the reconstruction of this impassable road.

We equally urge the Kogi state government and other concerned agencies to support the move to reconstruct Iffe/Egbedda road road in Ijumu local government area of Kogi state so that it can further alleviate the suffering of the motorists, pedestrians and those who convey their goods to the market place by motorcycle or otherwise through this same road.

Samuel Oj Temibi writes from Ijumu local government area of Kogi state.
