The story of Idris Lakwaja can be best described as one of the many iconic Lokoja indigenes who radically worked hard to advertise and sell the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which successful brought the party to power 16 years ago.
Idris Lakwaja’s contribution and selfless services among others, left him indisputable in steering of the party, he is also a locomotive engine room with an exceptional capability and ability to sustain and contain all an sundry, another quality he posses is the diplomatic style of approach to matters.
However, his commitment to the service of the party is another point of view, his bold anticipation and courageous steps in settling internal issues is what left him standing tall and unbeatable.
Hon Idris, being a laconic man in nature, but his few words are nuggets which contributed to the growth and expansion of PDP in Kogi state. The Juggernautic ardent spirit of “I can do” attitude of his many party associates culminated to a laborious of mental, physical and financial hard work to change the believe of thousands of people in Lokoja to embrace the Party to swaddled positions.
When I perused through his documented story I discovered Idris Lakwaja was a celebrated staunch supporter of PDP who through hard work of service became a Liaison Officer of Lokoja local government within few months with impressive and remarkable results.
The name Idris Lakwaja is probably not a household name in the game of politics in the state because of his humble and down to earth attitude. Going close to this man who has silent achievements in politics, one will certainly adjudge that Idris Lakwaja is in deed a great Politician from ward E the second largest political ward in Lokoja with many unsung songs of his serious contributions to the development of the Local government and the state as a whole.
His views, advise, opinion are always not negligible as one of the strong men that are leading the affairs of the Party at the Local government level. Probably because he has been a grass root Politician haven served as the Pillar of Gov Wada/Yomi Leaders Forum in Lokoja. His wittingly skills located him to became the Director General of Grassroots Movement For Atiku Abubakar, 2007 (GRAMA).
He Coordinated a campaign project of Hon. Suleiman Babadoko in the course of supporting the former Lawmaker, where they went round the 5 political wards in Lokoja campaigning for the Lukpan of Lokoja to become the House of Assembly member in 2011.
His political feathers were toppled up by the call to represent Youths in the Northern Peace Conference in Abuja where his voice was reckoned to be a promising Nigerian leader that has futures and good leadership qualities that can serve the country better by the organizers of the conference.
Having an indispensable qualities of leadership able, Idris Lakwaja was appointed as one among many members to be part of Think Tank Committee that can chart a good path that will lead the state on a higher ground of growth and development.
Through the dints of hard work, the then Governor Idris wada led administration brought him to be a Liaison officer that will over see the affairs of Lokoja local government where is on records he worked ways to revive all sectors n the local government, he chart a Course to invite expert in order to resuscitate the dwindling monuments of Lokoja and the IDP camp during the 2015 flood period.
The Ward E born politician in Lokoja Local Government of Kogi state is known to be a hardworking politician with ardent principles and political ideologies. At a point all through his political life he maintain the president Buhari style of Politics, being in an opposition no matter the pains of the crunch:
Idris Lakwaja started his political journey with the Action Congress (AC) party. As political activities kept unfolding, taken new shape and bringing different dimensions, ANPP later metamorphosed to Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) where he became the defunct staunch member.
Having a think tank brain he was call to served as the PDP chairman of local government forums in the state that will work tirelessly for the formation of the PDP.

Recently under the able leadership of the party Chairman in the state, Idris Lakwaja was one of the strong persons that went round the 21 LGAs on what they tagged “cleaning rotting visit of Party members” whereby cementing and fraternizing the sour relationship that bugged off many party loyalist.
He has successful became an integral part that organized the party’s selling of Lokoja Local Governments elections forms and conducted the most fairness adjudged party Primaries elections of the Party in the local government.
