Kogi state chapter of Igala Cultural and Development Association (ICDA) has berated a former national president of the organization, Sadiq Amodu Abubakar, for employing desperate tactics to retain seat long after end of his tenure.
Kogi ICDA distanced itself from a communique dated 27th January 2023 purported to have emanated from the national body of the socio-cultural organization.
A statement signed by the State Chairman, Godwin Idakwo and Secretary of ICDA, Isaac Inah on Saturday night, said the overarching attitude of the erstwhile national leadership of ICDA led by Sadiq Amodu Abubakar is “considered desperate and depicts the attitude of a drowning man who does not seem to know that his recent action is an assault on the culture and tradition of the Igala people.”
The statement noted that erstwhile, defunct National leadership of ICDA led by Sadiq Amodu Abubakar, claim of convening a fraudulent National Executive Council meeting of Friday 27th January 2023 with ICDA leaders in attendance “after the Sadiq Amodu Abubakar was barred from parading himself as President of ICDA by the Ata’gala was not only disturbing but a taboo to the Igala culture and tradition which he claims to be promoting.”
“For the avoidance of doubt, ICDA Kogi State Chapter was never part of any kangaroo meeting yesterday. The venue of the laughable meeting was not disclosed in the open, and there was no zoom link. ICDA meeting is not held that way.
“The general public should also take notice that we are in touch with some principal members of the former EXCO who worked with Sadiq Amodu Abubakar, and are members of the Kogi State chapter, and they have confirmed to us, without mincing words, that they were never part of the so called NEC meeting of 27th January, 2023 and that they have since shown respect to the position of the Ata’gala and have stopped parading themselves as Executives of the body.
“That is why we have been urging them to post duly signed attendance of the meeting cum venue if they are sure the meeting really took place.
“ICDA Kogi State Chapter calls on the State Chapters who are yet to be briefed that Sadiq Amodu Abubakar led Exco of ICDA has since been dissolved and His Royal Majesty Ata’gala has constituted a National Caretaker Committee for ICDA in its place, under the leadership of Surgeon Commodore Ahmed Abdullahi rtd, and effort is being made to reposition ICDA to note, please”.
