The Management of Igala – Bassa Development Initiative (IBDI) has visited and donated directly, educational materials to the students of Government Secondary School Okanya in Igalamela – Odolu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The team was led by the Chairman, Board of Trustees IBDI, Maj. General J.A Ataguba and other Senior Management Officials.
The school was found to be in a deplorable state of only seven teaching staff with no teachers in mathematics and other critical subjects, no security, water, electricity services, functional toilets, no library and functional science laboratories, absence of a PTA, little or no motivation of teachers amongst other severe challenges.
In his remarks, the Chairman, Board of Trustees Maj. Gen J.A Ataguba (rtd) charged the school management team to put in their best in educating the students despite the deplorable state of the school. He also assured the school of more interventions from IBDI in critical areas that aids the learning process.
In his response, the Principal of the School, Mr Amana John thanked IBDI for remembering them and bringing school materials to support the academics of students in the school. He promised to ensure standards in the school operations.
Students of the school expressed gratitude to IBDI for the Intervention brought to them.
