The chairmanship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in Ibaji Local Government in the forthcoming council poll, Hon. David Ina Ogu has promised to use agriculture as the springboard for the development of Ibaji Local Government Area if elected into office in next month poll.

Speaking exclusively to The Banner reporter in Ibaji, Hon. David Ina Ogu said it is time for the people of Ibaji to benefit immensely from its comparative advantage in agriculture. “Our soil is one of the most fertile in Nigeria and that is why tubers from Ibaji are known all over the nation”, he said.

In his words, “it is time to translate our rich farmland into economic prosperity. To achieve this, we have to mechanize our farming operations and make them more attractive. We need to create ready market in order to keep encouraging mass production. My government will do everything within its powers to create a conducive environment for the agricultural development of Ibajiland”, he said.

Hon. Ogu called on all Ibaji people to believe in his ability to bring development to the area. “With our land and human resources, we have basically all it takes to be the food basket of Nigeria.

Agriculture can drastically reduce our dependence on the federal allocation and create new jobs, new hope and new opportunities. That is the resource our land holds today.

“Beyond agriculture, I want to make our healthcare delivery become one of the best in the state. Our clinics and dispensaries will be turned around to dispense health in a more qualitative manner. Our schools will be made attractive for children and teachers’ glory shall be re-captured.

“With the support of the State Government, we will improve our roads, provide water and become a factor to reckon with in the economy of the state. I cannot to fail the people of Ibaji who have so much confidence in me”, he said.

He also expressed confidence in the ability of the relevant authorities to resolve the crisis between Ibaji and Anambra State in order to enthrone peaceful co-existence among the people.
