I Have Used My Privileged Position to Serve God and The People – Awoniyi

The Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, says his privileged position as Gov Idris Wada’s Deputy was a call to serve the people and not to lord over them.

Awoniyi, made the remarks while addressing Members of Ijumu Progressive Group, a pressure group in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Iyara, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State Yesterday, said as Deputy Governor he has allowed the fear of God and the interest of the people control his action in serving the state.

Awoniyi, who was full of enthusiasm that the PDP would win convincingly in the forthcoming governorship election, described the mammoth crowd at the campaign rally at Iyara as an attestation that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) would win landslide in the forthcoming November 21, governorship election in the State.

The Deputy Governor called on the IPU members and supporters of the party to work hard for the re–election of Capt Idris Wada, described the governor as humane and visionary leader.

Awoniyi described the last few years of the present administration as challenging but said the governor’s prudent use of resources, sincerity, and humility, coupled with the desire to improve on infrastructures amidst scarce resources has been the governor’s staying power.

The Deputy Governor, apologized for the people of the area to forgive his short – coming in the last few years of service as Deputy Governor, promised that Capt. Wada led administration would strive to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people.

Awoniyi described the Capt Wada’s led administration as one that is focus, purposeful, humane and development oriented, said when compared to past administrations in the state, the present government he explained means well and has done so much for the people of the state.
