One of the greatest frauds of the 2014/15 electioneering campaign was selling the contest between APC and PDP as that of EVIL against GOOD. Going by the narratives of that epoch, I need not belabour you with which was good and which was evil.
2015 was a battle for the cake called Nigeria in which one group had the upper hand via massive propaganda and naked lies bought and swallowed by a non-discerning citizenry.
Yet, the last time we had political differences that were based STRICTLY on principles was between 1962 and 1964 in the old Western Region. The paths of the major protagonists, Awolowo and Akintola, never crossed again and their descendants continued from where the two men stopped.
Now, if Obanikoro could be sitting with Bola Tinubu at APC meeting, donning a face cap with the inscription: ‘APC’, then you are not only naive but stupid to take sides in the fight between Dino Melaye and Yahaya Bello.
For your information, Dino played a prominent role in ensuring that Faleke never inherited the looming mandate he was poised to get with the late Abubakar Audu. He worked for the emergence of Bello. And not because he loved him or Kogi, but his calculation was that Faleke, from Yoruba-speaking Kogi, would practically kill his own chance of becoming governor if he (Faleke) was allowed to emerge governor after the death of Audu.
Dino too is a Yoruba-speaking Kogi person.
Dino is a threat to Bello any day. Reason the ebullient and rabble-rousing senator must be caged at all costs. There is also the proxy fight of Buhari and Saraki at the Federal level. The two (Bello and Dino) are foot soldiers.
The tragedy of Politicus Nigeriana is that these two guys might be in the same boat in the next 18 months fighting another common enemy!
