The All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other political parties has been called upon to respect the rotational arrangement for the House of Representatives seat in Yagba federal constituency of Kogi state.

A group, Yagba Brotherhood Vanguard, made the call at a press conference in Lokoja on Wednesday.

Addressing newsmen, Mr. Olure Peter Olawale, Coordinator, Yagba Brotherhood Vanguard, explained that rotation of political offices based on gentleman arrangement has been a way of fostering unity and stimulating even distribution of development in the federal constituency which should not be mortgaged by the political class.

The group submitted that the just and fair thing to do after the expiration of Elder Leke Abejide second term in the House of Representatives is to allow a Mopamuro person represent Yagba Federal Constituency.

“It has become important for all well meaning and patriotic Yagba indigenes to be concerned about the next LG to represent Yagba East, Yagba West and Mopamuro Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives.

“The four year term of a single tenure started from Barrister Shola Ojo of Mopamuro LGA, moved to Chief TJ Faniyi of Yagba East and ended with Hon Samuel Aro of Yagba West.

“A second leg movement started from Yagba West with Hon Steve Karimi, moved to Yagba East with Hon Leke Abejide.

“We appeal to all people of conscience in Yagba to support this very fair agitation in the interest of equity, fairness and justice.

“We appreciate the wisdom of our political leaders some are late now (may God rest their souls) in making solid arrangement and agreement to see that the office of House of Representatives rotates between the three local governments of Yagba starting from Mopamuro at the return of democracy in 1999.

“The place of rotation of political offices based on gentleman arrangement and agreement, as a way of fostering unity and stimulating even distribution of development, can not be overemphasized.

“As a people, we have so much to gain in the very good arrangement of the then leaders than leaving this important position to pure chances and vague political manipulations.

“No local government in Yagba is in dearth of people that can give Yagba quality representation in continuation of the good jobs of past occupiers of that position including the current, Hon Elder Leke Abejide. It is therefore our fervent belief that Mopamuro have enough good materials across all political parties amongst whom Yagba people can decide to elect at the appropriate time,” the group said.

While calling on the national assembly to constitutonalize the inclusion of power rotation in Nigeria, the group sought the understanding and support of all to see that the brotherly, orderly arrangement in Yagba federal constituency is not truncated.
