All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, Alhaji Yakubu Yusuf Okala, has call on the electorate to come out and vote enmasse for candidates of the party across the 25 state constituencies during Saturday’s House of Assembly elections.
A statement issued by Director General Media of Alhaji Yakubu Yusuf Okala Governorship Campaign Organisation, Mohammed Adama, in Lokoja on Thursday hailed Kogi electorate for supporting and voting for the presidential and national assembly candidates of APC during last month general elections.
He called on the electorate to re-enact same feat by voting for all 25 House of Assembly candidates of APC on Saturday, March 18.
“I enjoin our party members to strive hard and enthrone our candidates to take control of next legislative chamber of the state in order to usher in an all inclusive government in which I am aspiring to lead by the grace of God via coming November governorship election, if I secure the ticket of our party in the April party primary election.
“The importance of having our party members in charge of the state House of Assembly cannot be over emphasised, as it serves as a tonic of flexibility between the legislature and the executive arms of government, with concomitant effect in making laws that will lead to even distribution of democracy dividends to all nooks and crannies in the state.
“You have done it before, you can still do it for us again for enduring democracy in the state without tears.
“Let our party members make it a point of duty and be at the polls on Saturday in their respective local governments, constituencies, towns and villages and vote for our candidates for quality leadership in the next dispensation.
“Lest we forget, our capable voters and party members should note that the next Saturday legislative election is a prelude to ,enthronement of a people oriented executive government in November that will steer the ship of the state to the aspiration of all.
It, therefore, behold that all hands must be on the deck to ensure that the legislative arms of government in the state should remain in the hands of APC, via the coming Saturday legislative election, because of its importance to the next administration, which our party still want to be in control fully,” he said.
Okala explained with an APC controlled State Assembly, the friction of interest associated with the executive and legislative arms of government which most often serves as hiccups in act of governance would be avoided, and smooth relationship enthroned for quality and enduring development.
