A Non Government Organization, Center for Integrated Health Programs (CIHP) has opened an HIV/AIDS testing and counselling centre in Kogi State to assist in tackling prevalence rate of the disease and other related health issues.
Commissioning the centre at Ayingba, Chief Executive Officer of CIHP, Bola Olayedu said the group is out to reduce HIV/AIDS prevalence rate in the state. Olayedu, who was represented by the organization’s Health Manager, Kemi Erinfolami, said the centre will offer free HIV/AIDS testing and counselling to the people, especially the youths who are more vulnerable to the disease.
“Our target is the youths, sex workers, Okada riders among others. Executive Secretary of the state’s Agency for the Control of AIDS Hajia Rehinatu Bala said it is worrisome that the state’s prevalence rate is as high as 5.8 per cent.
According to her, the establishment of the Drop Centre in Anyigba will go a long way in tackling the menace.
