His Excellency: A Spitting Image or a Messiah?

They said that he has mastered an act capable of shelving the voice of the people. When a man cheats once, he may be forgiven. When he considers cheating his wife as the new-normal, he exemplifies the adage that says ‘a dog is bound to get lost if he shuns the hunter’s whistling.

Ask around and you are sure to delve into already known facts. Sade said that she voted for APC because she wanted ‘fresh air’. She didn’t want a transformation because the word ‘transformation’ as used by the People’s Democratic Party during 2015 election portrayed a mere recycling of leaders. So, when APC offered the gospel of a ‘change’, she looked beyond ethnical as well as religious bounds and decided to cling on to President Muhammadu Buhari’s train.

With the arrival of PMB, much was expected. After all, he had hitherto publicly denounced his old military religion and has been born again into the fastest growing religion of democracy. Democracy exemplifies freedom for all as constitutionally stipulated that is.

Ordinarily, we all expected frantic decisions in the aspect of security, economy development and to become much more respectable amongst the comity of nations.

However, many million minutes have gone and we’ve had a real change. A change that has visited many homes in no small way. I believe that under this administration, it is a no win game to save. Savers get rewarded with interest by the banks. Unfortunately, instead of getting a relative profit, savers are instead rewarded with a low purchasing power parity. What more? prices of goods keep soaring high as though they aim to reach for the sky. Common! A bag of rice was suppose to be a mere eight thousand naira. But today, that amounts would be multiplied by four to get a bag worth of rice.

Truth is, there’s been a change but it is certain that we’ve not had a leap forward. Even a blind man is aware that all is not well with our nation. For instance, traveling on Major Nigeria roads has become a daredevil task. Engaging in farming is gradually becoming synonymous to going to Somalia for a vacation.

A lot is wrong with Nigeria. Many have asked if the President is the real messiah. In my opinion, I think that six years is a good enough time to tell. However, the only way to change the narrative is to make frantic decisions on all fronts. A fellow with a very myopic intelligence may become a good leader if he chooses to surround himself with wise folks. Needless to say, when incompetency fervently sprout out its ugly head, it leaves rooms for dust to be raised.

Ever wondered why they say the president is not the real president?
