Member representing Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro federal constituency of Kogi state, Hon. Hassan Atayoma Omale has called on the Federal government to draft Army and Mobile Police squad to Bagana, a crisis ravaged community in Omala local government of Kogi State.
Speaking with Daily Post in Abuja, he decried the absence of security personnel despite Fulani herdsmen attack on the predominantly farming and fishing community, adding that the people had deserted their homes and were now living in Abejukolo and other surroundings.
He noted that the crisis, which was a spill over of attack on Agatu people in nearby Benue State in 2013, had turned Bagana into a ghost of itself, revealing that security agents deployed in the heat of that crisis had left.
“There is need to return the people of Bagana to their communities as they have been living in Abejukolo and other places as a result of attacks on them.
“You know Bagana is part of my federal constituency, they are farmers and fishermen and the people are into trade by barter till now, but the situation has changed and they are seriously affected”, he emphasised.
He assured that the resolution of the House of Representatives through a motion he sponsored would be implemented.
He added that peace meeting would be convened at the Palace of Ojogba of Ife when normalcy was restored.
