The Peoples Democratic Party Elders Forum have unanimously rejected the informal recommendations of Hon. Tom Zekeri’s committee, narrowing down the party’s divisional chairmanship to Olamaboro in Ankpa federal constituency.
The committee also recommended zoning the Zonal office position to Ofu local government in Idah federal constituency.
The Forum, in a statement signed by Alhaji Ibrahim Dansofo, and made available to newsmen on Friday, highlighted concerns about Tom’s role in the Kogi gubernatorial election.
It emphasizes that stakeholders of each federal constituency should handle micro zoning, not Tom Zekeri and his few selected, imposed members deciding for the entire Kogi East senatorial district.
The statement also criticized the “selective meeting held in Anyigba by a few cabals loyal to Dino Melaye, who compromised the party’s last opportunity to win the last governorship election in the state”.
The Elders of the Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), spanning nine local government areas in Kogi East, described Hon. Tom Zekeri as a highly controversial figure who has created confusion in the party since his return to the PDP from APC.
“The role Tom Zekeri played in the last election, sidelining delegates from Kogi East, raises questions about his capacity to be a member of any committee providing recommendations for Kogi East PDP,” he said.
The statement also accused Barr. Usman Kabir of selecting a few people to a hotel room in Anyigba and forming a controversial committee that does not represent their people but serves their own interests.
“We call for the constitution of another committee to address the appeal from Ankpa Federal constituency. Tom Zekeri’s actions make a mockery of the process, favoring Capt Joe Agada, Dino Melaye’s ally,” Dansofo added.
“The committee chairman should report back to the general meeting, submitting the report to the leaders. Unfortunately, Tom Zekeri exposes his own examination questions, acting like a teacher testing his own students’ knowledge.”
