The Managing Director of Sahara Homes, Alhaji Kabir Haruna has urged Kogi state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to pay civil servants their outstanding salaries considering the untold hardship faced by the poor workers of the state.
Haruna, in a statement signed by his spokesman, Yakubu Yunusa Chado, said civil service is the only surviving industry in the state, hence the continuous non-payment of salary is gradually retarding the economic progress of the state.
According to him, prompt payment of workers salaries is a compulsory obligation of every responsible government. He advised Governor Bello not to jeopardize the seemingly peaceful coexistence in the state.
”The Governor must have made some marks in the areas of security, but however, his security crusade may suffer a dangerous set back if the much needed human development is not taken as a top priority. Buying of exotic cars and abysmal political appointment is not enough to alleviate people’s suffering in the state,” he added.
While urging the All Progressives Congress (APC) led government in the state to rise up to its responsibility, Haruna empathized with the state workers and the entire people of the state urging them to remain peaceful even in the face of hardship heaped on them by the Yahaya Bello’s administration.
