Haruna Pledges Improved Security in Ijumu LG, Inaugurates 50 Local Hunters

Caretaker Chairman Ijumu local government area of Kogi state, Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna, has reiterated the avowed commitment of Governor Usman Ododo-led administration to secure lives and property in all nooks and crannies of the state.

Haruna made this known while inaugurating 50 newly recruited local hunters in Iyara on Wednesday.

Recall that Kogi State House of Assembly recently approved the request of Governor Ododo to recruit 50 local hunters each across the 21 LGAs of the state.

Speaking at the occasion, the Caretaker Chairman said the move was aimed at protecting the lives and properties of citizens.

Alhaji Haruna called on the hunters to work with traditional rulers and other security agencies to ensure synergy and harmonious coexistence.

He reiterated that the present administration of Governor Ododo is diligently collaborating with relevant security agencies to ensure the safety and security of the populace and their possession at all times.

He noted that security is a collective responsibility and that newly recruited 50 local hunters will also help with intelligence gathering in other to curtail bad elements in Ijumu LGA.

The Caretaker Chairman further said that the hunters understand the terrain of the forest, hence their engagement for enhanced local security.

The Special Assistant on Security to the caretaker Chairman, Hon. Adeyemi Gbenga expressed appreciation to the Alhaji Haruna for making security his top priority.

He charged the hunters to be more proactive and take the opportunity to showcase their capacity in making the local government crime free.
