In a land of abundance
In the land of the confluence,
From Ankpa,to Dekina,to yagba to okene and lokoja
My people dine with hunger, and politician induced scarcity!
Their nails are edible like cocoyam,
They sleep under leaking roofs,
Children become beggars,
children become school dropout.
Women become widowers,
Tertiary institutions, hospitals etc technical closed,
They IGALAS,EBIRA AND OKUNS are crying, “Oh God, maka why!?”
Hummer legs trek to different destinations
Running into hunger ravaged people along the way,
Dusty road that throws everybody into turmoil!
Unemployed eager for watering jobs
Queuing behind queues at vacancy houses
To be employed with kola on manager’s hand,

People queue in front of politician houses waiting for 10kg of rice
People are turned in slaves in their fathers land
While political bandits rule as kings!
Retirees weep on dying beds
But next day an obituary will read,
“A life well spent”!
Schoolchildren learn under Tigris tree
Sitting on the bare ground
At the mercy of hungry ants!
Workers stretch out their hand
Demanding long held salaries
Crying with a teary slogan,
Oh Lord where have we gone wrong in Kogi state?
The politicians have removed humanity from the humans in the state
Politically induced killing and fracas everywhere,
Billions of dollars accuring to the state ,
Yet hunger,insecurity and disease
Keeps staring us in the face
OH GOD, maka why ?.
Save us from political and government induced humanitarian crises.
I believe kogi shall be liberated from the political negative captivity
