In the words of the second republic president, Alhaji Shehu Shagari, he said: “true service is not in the welfare of the elites but in the flow chat of direct impact experienced by the electorates”. Undoubtedly, this is what the new direction government of his Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello is up and doing.
For the records, the governor has shown great love and resolve to turn around the lives and well been of communities and rural areas. Through the ministry of rural development, the Governor has been able to carry out a state of the “art surgical revival” of heavy earth equipments that will ease the construction of feeders roads that shall be connecting communities to themselves.
The benefit therefore is too numerous to mention but chiefly among them is the ease at which farmers shall transport their farm produce to market. In addition, retailers can easily access the producing communities and this will no doubt boost the economic activity of most rural areas. It is worthy to note that in life, every other thing can wait but not agriculture and the bulk of agriculture is usually practised in the Rural areas.
In addition to this gigantic stride is an offing construction of a 500km Rural roads through the Rural Access And Mobility Project (RAMP) counterpart fund by world Bank, African Development Bank, French International Agency and other allied donor agencies (IDPs) before the end of the year. The roads which shall evenly cut across the three senatorial district of the state is only but a buttress of the Governor Yahaya Bello commitment to our rural communities.
This government is therefore poised at delivering dividends to the people especially those in rural areas and the yardstick of assessment at the end shall be how well we improved the Rural areas on our own before the IDPs. No man is too perfect to do all things right and no man is too fallible to do all things wrong but by our collective efforts, we shall make the world better than we met it. Kogi is ours to build and we owe it a duty to contribute our quota toward it’s development.
God Bless Kogi State!
God Bless The New Direction!!
God Bless Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello!!!

Kogi State Commissioner for Rural Development
