Yet to be identified gunmen on Wednesday night killed a Policeman at a checkpoint along Kabba-Ayere road in Kogi State.
This is coming barely a week after unknown gunmen killed three police officers at the Adavi Division of the Nigeria Police.
A source in Ayere told Newsmen that the gunmen were passing by when they opened fire on the patrol team, while the officer whose name is yet to be made known died on the spot.
The police patrol team, according to the source, are from the Odolu Division.
When contacted, the Chairman of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, Moses Olorunleke said he was at a meeting and promised to call back, but he never did.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya could not confirm the incident as he did not return calls put across to him.
