Frontline Kogi governorship aspirant, Alhaji Yakubu Yusuf Okala, has hailed the successes recorded by All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the recently held national and state assembly elections across the state.

A statement issued by the Director General of Media, YY Okala Campaign Organization said “history was made in Kogi state in the just concluded House of Assembly election on when All Progressives Congress (APC) made good their doggedness by clearing 23 out of 25 seats in the state assembly, beating the rest parties to the rear.”

Okala said the victory of APC at the last Saturday polls was not a small feat and therefore cannot be warded off with wave of hands, without a thumb up for the ever consistent and gallantry of APC members who made it possible.

“To say it bluntly, despite the stiff opposition of the opponents of APC, with their caustic narratives on the fields in the assembly election, the party had an excellent result, by scoring 92percent in the outing. This result has made it clear that our victory in the previous elections was not a fluke, but real.

“We appreciate our ever consistence  party leaders, stakeholders and  members for standing tall, when confronted with  politics of brinkmanship of our opponents in the race, which brought out this heart warming result.

“The implication of this overwhelming result is not far fetched, as it has put the elected  lawmakers under the platform of APC in the control of the state assembly, having secured over 2/3 majority seats in the process.

“No doubt, the secured over 2/3 majority seats in the coming assembly by the party is imperative to quality deliberation of issues and smooth  approval of sensitive decisions in the business of the Assembly.” he said.

Okala stated that the impressive results recorded by APC across the the state summed up the testimony of a  good leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello who stood vehemently behind the party, as he created  the enabling environment for the party to triumph at the polls last Saturday.

“We salute Governor Bello’s courage and astuteness in this direction which gave the party a winning streaks in all elections since the advent of his administration in the state; and which has laid a concrete foundation for the party to hold grip of the  business of state assembly for smooth operation in the next administration.”

Okala congratulated the elected lawmakers on the platform APC for their victory at the polls, urging them to be magnanimous in victory.

“And for our party members who failed their bid to make it through, I urge you all to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship, as we are still contesting the veracity of our opponents’ claimed victory at the polls in the two constituencies via appropriate channels.

“For these crops of elected refined lawmakers to perform efficiently in the state assembly, and for proper tending of the ship of the state for the benefit of all, it would not be out of tune to say that the new legislators needs a chief executive governor that is imbued with leadership qualities like forthrightness, sense of responsibility, transparency and exposure, among others, for a better chemistry to stimulate development in the society of Kogi.

“Our elected lawmakers should note that baring any change, our great party will be electing its standard bearer in April next month to fly the party flag in November 11 governorship election in the state, as designed by the electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“I therefore count on your support, in the coming delegates party election, to clinch the party ticket for the governorship election, which I have indicated interest to  jostle with other contestants in the party, by buying expression form to that effect.

“Meanwhile, I look forward for robust relationship, if God crown my efforts with party ticket and secured  the mandate to rule the state in the next dispensation via November governorship election in the state.”
