A group, Concerned APC Members in Kogi West senatorial district, have warned local government chairmen to stop commenting on Senator Sunday Steve Karimi’s stance on President Tinubu and Governor Usman Ododo’s endorsement.
In a statement signed by Muhammad Suleiman, the members said the chairmen lack credibility to speak for the people.
Suleiman questioned how the chairmen, “who lack visible records of stewardship after over a year in office”, can compare themselves to Senator Karimi, who campaigned across all seven local government areas and enjoys the people’s mandate.
“You’re questioning Karimi’s representation, yet you never win elections and were selected against the people’s wish,” he noted.
The group urged the chairmen to keep a low profile instead of exposing their limitations.
Suleiman said “it is heartbreaking for those who never won elections to challenge someone with a clear mandate, adding that the chairmen are ranting due to a lack of achievements.”
He advised them to focus on governance, providing the leadership needed to drive development in their various local government areas, and leave flattery alone.
The statement backed Senator Karimi, saying Kogi State people are aware of President Tinubu’s popularity and achievements, and won’t be deceived.
“Senator Karimi is on course,” the group added.
