..appeals to President Buhari to save Kogi State from further embarrassment.
A group, Concerned Kogi Stakeholders, has described the planned appointment of Honourable Yunusa Olofu as the new chairman, review committee on staff verification as a glaring sign of insincerity.
In a statement signed by Austin Usman Okai on behalf of the group, Olofu was described as incompetent and translucent to handle the assignment.
The group appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to prevail on the state governor on the need to halt the notorious ‘paddy, paddy’ government that has brought untold hardship to the people of the state.
It also drew the attention of the President and the nation’s first lady to the consequences of imposing people who lacks wherewithal, experience, capability and integrity on the people all in the name of politics, saying kogites will never forgive collaborators of Kogi downfall.
According to the group, Kogi state is blessed with enough technocrats, administrators and experienced people with high level integrity to handle such sensitive assignment and not the likes of Olofu who had jumped ship severally in the last 16 years all in the name of democracy.
“Yunusa Olofu was the employer of Edward Onoja, the current Chief of Staff to Kogi state governor as manager of his hotel, Graj Hotel in Lokoja.
“He later turned round and sold this hotel to Edward Onoja when he went broke and was ordered to decamp to the ruling party to become relevant in this dispensation. This is not type of person that can handle such sensitive task. With him as chairman, the committee is dead on arrival.
The group warned Governor Yahaya Bello not to drag the state into civil crises as obtainable in other states and to henceforth drop his ‘I too know’ and alleged corrupt-prone tendencies of the present administration in the state.
It rejected in its entirety the original notion of the present administration to continue to buy time all in the name of screening saying nothing good will come out of Olofu review committee as he is incompetent, compromised and paid to create more problems in the state.
“Olofu’s antecedents is nothing to write home about; from being Director General at the state’s liaison office, to being Protocol Officer to the governor to his imposition as House of Assembly member from Olamaboro were all fraught with fraud and ill activities.
