A political group, Project Win With Wada has hailed the governor of Kogi State, Capt. Idris Ichala Wada over the award of the Ganaja Junction Flyover contract, saying the flyover will ease traffic in the confluence City.
Addressing newsmen in Lokoja, Friday, a chieftain of the group, Hon. Matthew Ochada said the controversy trailing the governorship election in the state has not slowed down the pace of development by the governor.
He said the project, when completed, will not only ease the traffic problems in the city, but also change the outlook of one of Nigeria’s oldest cities.
“The people’s governor has refused to be slowed down by the controversy which marred the Kogi governorship poll, but has instead, continued his giant strides as a governor who is committed to development.
“The Ganaja Junction has been the centre of Nigeria and putting a flyover there will ease traffic as well as make the town join the very few capital cities in Nigeria with flyovers. The people of the state will always appreciate the contributions of Capt. Idris Ichala Wada”.
On the problem of workers’ salaries in the state, Ochada said the problem is national and called on the Federal Government to release the bailout approved for the state to take care of salary arrears.
Ochada said the governor remains a statesman who places the interest of the state above his political ambition, expressing confidence in the Election Petitions Tribunal to give justice in the case before it.
“We cannot comment on the chances of the governor in the case challenging the outcome of the election instituted by the governor before the tribunal. But Nigerians are watching to see how the tribunal will determine the case”.
