A group under the auspices of “Righteous Onlookers Association” has appealed the Kogi state governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello to as a matter of urgency look into the salaries of Judicial staff which has not been paid in the last nine months.
The group also expressed concern over the lingering crisis between state government and the state Judiciary which has resulted into the recommendation for the sack of the state Chief Judge, Justice Nasir Ajanah, by the State House of Assembly.
In a press statement issued by the patron of the group, Alhaji Ahmed Adoke on Thursday which was made available to newsmen in Lokoja, the group called on the governor to release the funds meant for the judiciary to enable it pay the salaries of the workers who have been passing through hardship in the last nine months.
Alhaji Adoke said that it is most disturbing that Kogi state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and the Chief Judge, Justice Nasir Ajanah who are the principal personalities at the centre of the crisis are both prominent sons of Ebiraland who should ordinarily work together as brothers in the interest of the state.
He however wondered why both parties did not cash on the out of court application by the counsel to the state government (which was granted by Kogi State High Court, Koton-Karfe) to find a truce to the matter.
“We are appealing to the parties involved to adopt a political approach that will lead to amicable resolution of the impasse between the executive and the judiciary” he advised .
The group also appealed to traditional rulers and well meaning apolitical Kogites to wade into the crisis.
