In a momentous event held at the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), the groundbreaking ceremony for the Barefoot Renewable Energy College marked a significant step forward in the advancement of renewable energy education in Nigeria.

This visionary project, initiated by Dr. Abdullahi Mustapha, the Director General and CEO of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, promises to be a beacon of innovation and sustainability, not only for Kogi State but for the entire nation.

The Chairman of the Planning Committee, Engr. Clement Daudu, offered heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Abdullahi Mustapha for his unwavering dedication to bringing this project to life. He commended the entire planning committee for their tireless efforts, highlighting their commitment to ensuring the success of the event.

Hon. Engr. Daudu extended special appreciation to Prof. Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu, the Vice Chancellor of CUSTECH, who played a pivotal role in the event’s success.

Describing him as a father figure, he praised Prof. Salawu’s leadership and support, which were instrumental in navigating the complexities of organizing such a significant event.

The contributions of other key individuals were also acknowledged. Bldr. Adoke, the Director of Physical Planning at CUSTECH, was lauded for his tireless work in preparing the site for the groundbreaking.

Hon. NanaHawa Yetunde Kazeem, the Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, received commendation for her exceptional event planning skills and her ability to mobilize resources and support on all fronts. Her experience was evident in the seamless execution of the ceremony.

Further recognition was given to Makafan Joseph for his efficient handling of logistics, and Hon. Hamza Raji, the Chief Protocol to the DG/CEO of the Energy Commission, for ensuring smooth coordination among the attendees.

The efforts of Hon. Hafizu Abdullahi, the PA to the DG/CEO, and Hon. Hamza Onimisi Ibrahim, the Special Assistant to the Minister of Science, Innovation, and Technology and Chief of Staff to the DG/CEO, were also praised for their immense contributions to the success of the event.

The event was a glamorous affair, attracting dignitaries from across the country. His Excellency the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo expressed his profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his support of the project. He also acknowledged Chief Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Science, Innovation, and Technology, and Dr. Abdullahi Mustapha, for choosing Kogi State as the location for this groundbreaking initiative.

Among the distinguished guests were Hon. Sanni Abdulraheem Egidi, the Member representing Ajaokuta Federal Constituency, and all heads of agencies under the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Technology.

Alhaji Ali Bello, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, was also in attendance, lending his support to the historic occasion. The presence of His Royal Majesty, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Alhaji Ahmed Tijani Anaje added a traditional touch to the event, underscoring the cultural significance of the project.
