Govt Will Support Communities Embarking on Self-help Projects – Wada

Communities working towards complementing Government efforts in Infrastructure development using self help projects are to get Kogi State Government’s support.

Kogi State Governor, Capt Idris Wada, stated this at the N500million Development Fund for Takete-Ide Progressive Union (TIPU), in Takete-Ide Amuro, Mopamuro Local Government Area of the State.

The State Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, described self help project as a catalyst that propels development in modern day communities nation wide.

Capt Wada, who commended the initiative, said government can no longer to do it alone in view of its many competing needs and available resources.

The Governor described the projects been proposed for execution by TIPU as laudable and will no doubt catapult the community to a higher pedestal.

The projects the Governor also added is poised to place the Takete-Ide community for greatness and to improve the standard of living of the people.

The Governor commended the present council leadership in Mopamuro LGA for its focused leadership that is aimed at improving the lives of the people.

The Governor promised to look into the communities request for the repair of its township roads, said it is the fervent desire of the present administration to see to the improvement of the lots of the people in the State.

In his remarks at the occasion, Senator Smart Adeyemi, Representing West Senatorial District, represented by Orunmbe Shola, said the self help approach by the community is coming at a better time, solicited government and individual support to enable the people realized their objectives.

In his address, Sam Molade Orunmbe, President, Takete-Ide Progressive Union, said the fund raising was aimed at improving the Communities Infrastructures using communal efforts and to complement the efforts of Government.

Funds realized, the President noted will be used in the construction of a Civic Centre, WiFi enabled ICT centre, street light, community Bank and reticulation of water to streets and compounds to ease access to pipe borne water in the community.
The President called on the present administration to assist in the construction of its township roads as well as the construction of Effo/Takete-Ide/Aghara road adding that the roads have the immense benefits in opening up rural roads for more opportunities from the outside.
Also speaking, the Olude of Takete-Ide Amuro,HRH Oba Philip. O. Ebilakun, said the Traditional Council honored the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Alh. Ibrahim Idris, with the title of Ariwajoye of Takete Ide Amuro for his many contributions to the community, also thanked the present administration of Capt Idris Wada for installing an over head tank to ease the problem of water faced by the people, for providing other democracy dividends and for appointing sons and daughters of the area into his cabinet.

High point of the occasion was the decoration of Alh Ibrahim Idris as the Ariwajoye of Takete-Ide. The former Governor who was represented by Ali Akuh, Member Representing Omala State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, described the honor done him as heart warming, called on the present administration to assist in constructing the township roads.

The former Governor described the people of Takete-Ide as friendly, hard-working and good at self help projects.
