Efforts has been completed to begin the refunds of payment of WAEC fees made by secondary school students in the State.
Mr Abu Micheal, Chief Press Secretary, to Kogi State Deputy Governor, stated this in a reaction.
Mr Abu said government through the verification exercise it carried out had saved the state of over two hundred million naira and the fraud that has bedeviled the payment of the WAEC fees, said if not until the fraud was discovered, the state government had paid the fees in the last two years.
Mr Abu said the dwindling allocation from the federation account to the state for the month of April, occasioned the salary restructure and the call for workers to show understanding, also added that the present administration as been insinuated has sustained the payment of bursary to students of the state origin in higher institutions.
While noting that the administration of Capt Idris Wada, has drastically cut down on cost of governance, he maintains that until this month of April, the state government has not defaulted in salary obligation to its workers, said the present situation is not one for incitement but one that calls for dialogue.
Mr Abu maintained that despite the lean finances accruing to the state, it has embarked on the construction and completion of 58 road projects across the state, and has made giant strides by completing the payment for the greater lokoja water project, constructing an embankment around the water project, spending the sum of N1.8billion to reticulate water in lokoja town and on going work in 35 other water schemes across the state.
The administration, Mr Abu added has faired well in the health and other sectors of the economy, praised and appealed to labour and workers to continue to engage government in dialogue, as efforts he noted is on to address issues of concern raised by all concerned stakeholders.
The Chief Press Secretary, felicitated with the workers on this year may day celebration, describing state workforce as positive drivers of the transformation agenda of the present administration in the state.
