Govt Assures UEC of Support for the Proposed College of Nursing, Ochadamu

The Kogi State Government has assured of its support for the proposed take off of the United Evangelical Church, College of Nursing at Ochadamu.

Kogi State Governor, Capt. Idris Wada, gave the assurance when he received in audience the National Chairman and Members of the Board of Trustees of United Evangelical Church, formally Qua Iboe Church, who are in the State for a four day National Retreat of the church.

The State Governor described the proposed College of Nursing as a programme that is in line with the present administration’s transformation agenda, said the State Government is very interested in the September, 2013 date for the commencement of the college.

The State Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, commended the religious harmony existing in the State, lauded the role played by President Goodluck Jonathan in his assistance to restoring peace in the State at a time insurgents crept into the State.

The State Governor, called on Christians in the State to always conduct themselves in a manner that hold a beacon of hope for mankind.

The Governor described the UEC choice of choosing Lokoja for its National Retreat, as laudable, commended the very rich history of the Church.

Earlier in his remarks, Rev. Nathaniel Sani Issah, National Chairman UEC commended the support given the church by the State Government at establishing a College of Nursing at Ochadamu.

Rev. Issah, said the National Retreat which brings together about 250 Reverend Ministers, has “Church in Evangelism” as its theme, said the retreat is intended to educate and enlighten the Reverend gentlemen on the need for spiritual growth, prayers for the State and nation in general.

Qua Iboe Church of Nigeria was established in 1887 by Samuel Alexander Bill at Ibeno in the present Akwa Ibom State.
