A former acting governor of Kogi State, Chief Clarence Olafemi, yesterday said that state governors should allow President Muhammadu Buhari to make the choice of his ambassadors.
The chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) spoke against the backdrop of the recent rejection of the ambassadorial nominees made by the president.
Olafemi said the governors have no moral grounds to fault such appointments.
He said, “Are their (governors’) appointments not worse than what they are accusing Mr President of? When the governors were choosing their commissioners and special advisers, the party had no input.
“Mr President never chose any commissioner for a governor. So, why will the governors now be insisting that Mr President should let them know who will be the ambassador from their states or who will be minister from their states?
“They should allow Mr President to make his independent consultation and take his independent decision whether it favours the governors or not because he is the overall father.”

He said the governors should rather concentrate on addressing the challenges of non-payment of salaries and issues of underdevelopment bedeviling their various states.
