“Where there is little or no public opinion, There is likely to be bad government, which sooner or later becomes autocratic government”- William Lyon Mackenzie King.
Judging by the several reports of Governor Yahaya Bello Tour across some Local Governments of Kogi State, it is obvious that the Governor is set to visit the college of Education in Kabba in the next few hours. It is therefore very pertinent and important to draw his Excellency’s attention to the plight of my people and the oncoming tragedy.
Ordinarily one would have expected a responsive and responsible Government to act with utmost urgency about houses who are about to cave in due to erosion and lack of proper drainage channels.
The pictures of some flooded houses in Kabba that went viral online few days ago show that there is an urgent need to urgently address the poor drainage channels.
No doubt, as the Governor, you are the visitor to all the state-owned institutions but to make the institutions places to visit without going to access the Asanta, Kajola, Odiolowo and many more areas in Kabba/Bunu, which are prone to the imminent catastrophe, with the intention of fixing them within the shortest possible time is a misplaced priority, lack of vision and sympathetic considerations for the plight of the common man and the downtrodden.
A serious minded government with love for his people should have evacuated the people living in the aforementioned areas  and provide them with temporary accommodations pending when a lasting solutions is provided.
I will be particularly happy if the white Lion in the Lugard House can look beyond the funfare of the praise singers to protect the lives and properties of my people who urgently need your government’s intervention and presence.
I commend the Kabba Devlopment Union (KDU) President, Engineer Emmanuel Ajibero, whom I have been reliably informed of his selfless moves to some parts of the area for an onward assessment and possible assistance.
May God continue to bless the confluence State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
