Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has extended warm congratulations to Professor Wole Soyinka, the eminent literary icon and Nobel laureate, on his 89th birthday while praising God for for his good health and long life.
In a statement issued by his chief press secretary, Onogwu Muhammed, on Thursday, Governor Bello said Soyinka’s literary prowess has earned him global recognition and played a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s cultural and intellectual landscape.
He said; “Through his works, he sheds light on crucial societal issues, provoking thought and inspiring positive change.”
The Governor acknowledged that beyond his writing talent, Soyinka has demonstrated unwavering commitment to governance and nation building, adding that his courageous stance on social justice, human rights, and the rule of law leaves an indelible impact on Nigeria’s collective consciousness.
“As a Nobel laureate, Soyinka embodies Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and fosters international understanding and cooperation. His advocacy for justice, freedom, and equality serves as an inspiration to all,” he added.
