Except for those in the cabinet of the former governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello, not very many people in Kogi State know much of the man Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo until few days to the All Progressives Congress APC primary election brought him forth as the party candidate in the run up to the November 2023 gubernatorial election

However, since assuming office on the 27th January, 2024 and up to the 23 August 2024 the day Supreme Court affirmed his election as the bonafide elected governor, the emerging testimony of the state civil servants, pensioners and with what Lokoja the state capital is witnessing in facelift, he is quietly showing positive signs of strong leadership capacity and capability.

Signs that his administration will toll a positive path. The leadership capacity and capability demonstrated within this period by this young governor points to a promising future for the state under his stewardship.

Should Alhaji Usman Ododo continue with his avowed prompt payment of salary, wages, and pensions to civil servants and retirees in the state, focus on provision of infrastructure, a significant departure from the past, shows accountability, transparency in handling the financial resources of the state, economic development and job creation, no doubt unemployment rates in the state are unacceptably high with many young people struggling to find decent work,he will earn himself the trust and support of the people he serves.

Let him continue to show aversion to pompous displays of masculinity by overzealous supporters and political leaders as we have witnessed in this period under review and he will endeared himself positively and spiritually to the soul of people of the state.

As a disciplined accountant who should prioritize prudence and transparency in handling the state’s finances, crucial in ensuring accountability and proper utilization of public funds he should continue to take a stand against overblown convoys and excessive show of power, signaling a more down to earth relatable leadership style.

Those with benefit of close proximity to Governor Ododo says he is a God-fearing Muslim who understands the importance of stewardship and accountability before both his Creator and the people he serves. This moral compass will guide his decision-making and actions as a leader, instilling trust and confidence in his administration.

As a young politician, Ododo undoubtedly should has his sights set on the future beyond his current term in office. His commitment to good governance and service delivery will suggests a promising trajectory for his political career, as he should strive to leave a positive impact on the lives of the people of Kogi State.

With deep consideration of the very poor position if human and physical development state compared with other states of Nigeria created in the year 1991, it is important for him to reflect on the successes and failures of his predecessors and to consider what he can do differently in order to bring about positive change in the state.

Governor Ododo must prioritize good governance practices, including openness, accountability, and integrity, in order to restore public trust and confidence in the government, inclusivity bodes well for the oneness, unity development and progress of the State

He should pay close attention to infrastructure development in Kogi State. Previous governors have made some progress in this area, but there is still much work to be done in terms of improving roads, schools, hospitals, and other essential services. Ododo must massively invest in infrastructure projects that will benefit the people of Kogi State and improve their quality of life.

As an Okun Yoruba man, I know Ododo means flower and seen as a symbol of fertility, growth, and renewal. The beauty and vibrancy of the Ododo are believed to bring good luck and prosperity to those who encounter them. It is often used in ceremonies to attract positive energy and blessings from the spiritual realm. ‘Ododo’ holds a special significance in the culture and traditions of human beings, symbolizing beauty and new beginnings,

May the aura and splendor of the beauty in your name ‘Ododo’ represents the productivity of new offspring and the promise of a bright future for Kogi people and the state.
