The Community Outreach for Development and Welfare Advocacy (CODWA) has berated the Governor Usman Ododo-led Kogi state government for “threading the destructive path of extravagancy and prodigality”.
In a statement issued by the Executive Director, Comrade Taiwo Otitolaye, CODWA expressed surprise that Governor Ododo will appoint 1,192 aides, describing the action as a waste of resources.
“We cannot imagine what Ododo will achieve with an outrageous figure of 1,192 political appointees?
“For how long will Kogi state suffer from hangout leaders that have left the state in dilapidation? These appointments are nothing but further waste of limited resources.
“Except for the late Abubakar Audu, Kogi state has been RULED by mediocre leadership without vision and Political Will to develop the state.
“Instead of the Governor to explore ways of liaison with the Federal Government and relevant stakeholders to make Ajaokuta and other world class projects in the state to be reactivated to full working capacity, he is profligating with Kogi’s commonwealth.
“It has become a brazen sore and climax for a state with one of most blessed natural resources in Africa, home with oil and solid minerals, to continue to rumble on bad governance without end.
“Kogi state does not have good roads, hospitals, factories to employ its teeming youths and women. It is one of the worst states in terms of promoting human capital development despite the abundance of human resources,” he said.
CODWA condemned the appointments, describing it as primitive use of state apparatuses and resources at the detriment of the state and the general citizenry.
“This maladministration and wastes mush stop!
“Rather than waste scarce resources, we call on the state government to assemble experts to design and implement Kogi State Development Plan in other to move the state forward.”
