Governor Ododo is Committed to Actualizing Scaling of Gender Action Learning Systems – Adejo Odiniya

The FGN/IFAD Value Chain Development Programme (VCDP-AF), has concluded a policy dialogue on scaling-up Gender Action Learning Systems (GALS).

The event was aimed at promoting gender transformative and empowerment in agricultural value chains and other spheres of life.

Speaking at the event on Monday in Lokoja, National Coordinator of IFAD-VCDP, Dr Fatima Aliyu described GALS as a household methodology that helps to achieve gender-transformative results in IFAD’s operations.

Dr Fatima noted that the programme is all encompassing, calling on relevant stakeholders to work as a team to ensure the realization of set objectives.

In a remark, the Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Kogi State on Cooperatives, Mr Adejo Sam Odiniya, assured that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is much in tune with the scaling up of Gender Action Learning System methodology being used by VCDP.

Mr Odiniya said this is evident in the recent scaling up of female elective positions to forty percent from the previous thirty percent, describing Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo as the most female gender friendly Governor.

He enjoined farmers from the benefiting Local Government Areas to see their participation in the programme as an opportunity to make contribution to the food security of the State and commended the State Programme Coordinator, Dr Stella Adejoh for maintaining cordial working relationship with host State as evident through attendance by top government functionaries.

Present at the event were the Commissioner for Agriculture, Timothy Ojomah, Doctor Sani Abdulahi Ozomota, Technical Assistant to the Governor on Donor and Multilateral agencies, Muktar Shaibu, Commissioner for Commerce and Industry and representative of the Kogi State Head of Service, Pastor Elijah Evinemi.
