Capt Idris Wada, the Kogi State Governor has described governance in Nigeria as complex and one that demands so much pressure from those in authority.
To this end he has called for continuous prayers from the people to enable his administration succeed.
The Governor made the appeal for prayers for leaders in position of authorities when he received National Women Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, led by Dr Mrs Kema Chikwe and the leadership of the Kogi State Christian Community led by Most Rev Bishop Emmanuel Egbunu.
Capt Wada, described traveling by air as the safest means of transport,said having flown 15,000 nautical miles in his thirty five years career as a pilot,wondered how he would have been involved in a ghastly motor accident,with the two tyres of his car removed in a one hour thirty minute drive on a smooth road from Ayingba to Lokoja.
Wada noted that since the business of governance requires leaders to be mobile, that he pointed out adds extra pressure on those who govern.
Capt Wada thanked the PDP Women leaders for their concern and the christian community for their prayers after the auto crash,described his survival as an act of God.
Capt Wada commended the State Deputy Governor,Yomi Awoniyi, for been able to steer the ship of state in his absence, said he has been able to establish a government that will run without any one present.
The Governor,called for peaceful coexistence in the state also commended the inter religious harmony that was displayed by people of different religion during his trying moments,adding that it was an example that should be emulated in the country.
The Governor noted that one lesson the auto crash has taught him is to re dedicate himself to service,assured that in spite challenges the state is passing through it will witness the desired transformation and sustainable development under his administration.
In their separate speeches, Dr Mrs Kema Chikwe, thanked God for the Governors survival, said the governor’s positive disposition to women in governance made the women to show their concern during the crash.
Also speaking,Most Rev. Bishop Emmanuel Egbunu commended the Governor’s positive disposition to religious harmony, described the Governor as an example and as one who has made a positive statement by his believe in the Nigerian Health care delivery system.
Highlights of the visit was the presentation of flowers and prayers to the governor. The State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi and the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Olugbemiro Jegede, State PDP Chairman and Secretary, Hon Hassan Salawu and Mr Emmanuel Egwu were present at the visit.
