While the controversy over alleged double registration rages on, Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello today picks up a temporary voters card at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Okene.

The Director General on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Kingsley Fanwo confirmed that Bello has picked the transferred temporary voters card at INEC Office, Okene.

“Yes, his card has been transferred to his polling unit at Okene. He has been on this for long but thank God INEC has finally done it. The Governor is a law abiding leader who will continue to follow due processes,” he said.

Bello was accused of double registration last year and the electoral commission, after investigation, dismissed two of its officials for their alleged roles in the electoral scandal involving the Kogi State Governor.

INEC in a statement in December said it would have prosecuted Bello for the double registration fraud but cannot because of his constitutional immunity.

The spokesman of Kogi State INEC office, when contacted, said he cannot comment on the new development as he is out of town.
