A socio-political group, Kogi East Ambassadors (KEA), has applauded Governor Yahaya Bello for his relentless efforts aimed at taming insecurity in the senatorial district.
In a statement signed by the Convener, Yunusa Abubakar, the group commended security agencies in the state for stepping up their game in Kogi East senatorial district.
The group noted with sadness that Kogi East had become a safe haven for criminals ranging from kidnappers to invading militia.
They condemned those protesting against recent security operations in the area, accusing them of profiting from crimes against their own people.
“We have lost millions of Naira to hoodlums in ransom payments for kidnapped victims in Kogi East.
“We have also lost lives due to the reckless activities of criminals on our highways. Those at home cannot sleep with their two eyes closed.
“The situation is so bad that when we travel home or outside our towns, we have to first engage prayer warriors so we can get to our destination safely.
“From Ajegwu junction to Idah, Itobe axis and Ochadamu, the roads are not so safe and some persons want the situation to continue?
“What about the continued attacks in the ancient commercial city of Bagana? Which local government in Kogi East can boast of adequate security? We cannot continue to keep quiet.
“With recent tantrums, we are beginning to suspect that some politicians in this area are benefiting from these crimes.
“There should be reinforcements of security operatives to curtail this hydra-headed monster,” the statement said.
The group called on Governor Bello to sustain the onslaught against criminals until Kogi East is totally secured so economy of the area and get people can be revived.
