The situation in Nigeria is bad, vis a viz the past adminstration’s
looting and ineptitude, but that of Kogi is worse. The state is
currently facing an unending litany that is demoralising the state
civil servants is the unceasing payment of percent or half salary with
also many months of arrears, It’s absolutely painful to see one’s
state in this pitiable state.
When Captain Wada started governing the state, I was so taken in, I
used to tell close associates to watch out for the man that stands out
among equals, a thinker and a visionary owing to his intimidating
credentials and being an M.sc. holder along side, that got to the
pinnacle of civil service; Now, I am thoroughly disappointed.
Quite unfortunate that this pathetic story cut across the
entire LGAs in Kogi state. Governance is about people and other things
are secondary, even if the governor turns Kogi to London, he can never
be appreciated, if the workers’ salaries are not regular. The salaries
should be his priority before any other cosmetology projects. An
hungry man, is an angry man.
So deeply it squeezes and hurts the chest, When I heard from an
impeccable source that the governor
shared N400,000 per delegate at the just concluded PDP primaries, for
a man who couldn’t pay full salaries and was bailed out by the FG, it
is callous and inhumane to entrust such enormous responsibility of a
state governor to him . Wada is simply spending our bail-out funds to
pursue his inordinate ambition. But, who do we blame? The voters or
the politicians.
To make matters worse, We don’t have a Labour Union. What we have is a
“Labouring Union”. Emasculated Union that has been made effeminate,
through a systemic perpetuation of abject poverty, in all its
ramifications.
Let me end with this maxim “The proof of good governance is how well a
government treats its weakest citizens”, sabre
rattling on social media is not our only resolve, the needful must be
done with our PVC as we prepare for the coming guber elections.
God Bless Kogi State!!!
