Gov Ododo Urges NYSC Corp Members to Dedicate Themselves to Community Devt Service

… Disburses Over 23 Million Naira to 1,166 Corps Members for Transportation

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has implored National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state to demonstrate serious commitment to community development initiatives throughout their service year.

The Governor, represented by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu, gave the message during his address at the closing ceremony for the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream I corps members deployed to Kogi State on Tuesday at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Asaya, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area.

He urged the corps members to give their best and leave a lasting impact in the area of Health Care Delivery, Community Development Service, Agriculture, Social Services, and Education, assuring them that excellent performance during their service will be duly acknowledged and rewarded at the conclusion of the program.

Governor Ododo reassured the corps members of their safety and the warm hospitality of the state, urging them to remain vigilant and execute their responsibilities effectively at their respective places of assignment, while wishing them a fruitful service year.

In his usual manner of supporting the corps members, the Governor generously allocated over twenty three million Naira for their transportation, which according to him will be distributed at twenty thousand Naira each to the one thousand one hundred and sixty-six corps members departing the orientation camps to their respective places of primary assignments.

Ealier in his opening address, Mr. Femi Osungbohun, the State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, implored the Corps Members to apply the diverse knowledge they acquired during the orientation course, asserting that it will fulfill the expectations of Nigerians by contributing to their homeland.

He commended the state governor for his consistent support of the scheme, particularly for the generous donation of over one hundred bags of 50kg rice to the 2025 Batch A Stream I Corps Members, while appealing for further assistance from the state government.

The Deputy Governor was accompanied to the ceremony by Hon. Muhammed Nasiru Alfa, Director General, Kogi State Community Watch and Ancillary Matters, Rt. Hon. Momoh Alfa Rabiu, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Legislative Matters, Hon. Adejoh Friday Nichodemous, Special Adviser to the Governor on Commerce and Industry, Hon Thomas Offor, Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties II, Hon James Onojah, Special Adviser to the Governor on Security-Idah Federal Constituency.
