Gov Ododo Directs KOGROMA to Assess Feasibility of Felele Pedestrian Bridge

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has directed the Kogi Road Maintenance Agency (KOGROMA) to assess the feasibility of constructing a pedestrian bridge at the Felele section of the Abuja-Lokoja Expressway to improve road safety and prevent further tragedies.

The Governor made this known during a condolence visit to the management and students of the Federal University Lokoja, following the tragic accident that claimed the lives of several students on Monday. He also revealed that the state government had engaged the Federal Ministry of Works for federal intervention to address commuter challenges and prevent future accidents.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Joel Salifu, Governor Ododo reiterated his administration’s commitment to the safety and welfare of students.

He announced the formation of a committee comprising the Security Adviser to the Governor, Commissioners for Youth and Sports, Education, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja, the Student Union President of the institution, the Lokoja Sector Commander of the FRSC, SSAs on Youth and Student Affairs, the SSA on Youth and Women Mobilization, and the Lokoja Chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, among others.

Governor Ododo further directed the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to set up speed checkpoints and enforce stricter traffic regulations to improve road safety in the area.

The Governor assured students of his administration’s dedication to ensuring their safety, promising swift action on necessary infrastructure emphasized that his government is working with relevant stakeholders to enhance road safety across the state.
